The ‘Get Raffled’ scheme is a new initiative introduced last session to promote and celebrate positive learning. The current criteria include; prompt arrival to class, being fully prepared for the lesson, following teacher instructions promptly and completing tasks to the best of the pupil’s ability. The real reward is the Celebration Assembly where pupils are recognised and praised for their efforts and this is done publicly to share these successes with peers and to encourage others to aspire to the same. The names of all pupils with ‘Get Raffled’ nominations are displayed on the main screen in the Benedict Hall and our computer programme randomly selects pupils for additional rewards, donated in many cases by local companies and supported by our PTA. Rewards include cinema tickets, complementary meals, ten-pin-bowling etc and are used as an additional incentive to promote the desired positive aspects of learning. Nominees also receive certificates (gold, silver or bronze) in recognition of their achievements depending on the number of merits they are awarded throughout the term.
As this is a new initiative, our ‘Get Raffled’ team will continue to look at ways to continuously develop the system.
