Additional Support Needs (ASN) Department

The Additional Support for Learning Department ensures that all pupils are given equality of opportunity to access a broad, balanced curriculum.

A very wide range of factors may lead to children and young people having a need for additional support. These factors fall broadly into four overlapping themes: learning environment, family circumstances, disability or health need, and social and emotional factors (Education Scotland 2014).

The ASN Department works closely with all other departments to develop appropriate strategies and resources to overcome barriers to learning.
